    CPA (Cost per Acquisition)

CPA is ad spend divided by conversions — what you paid, on average, for each acquired customer, lead, or action. It's the standard efficiency target for lead-gen and conversion campaigns.

    Definition

CPA = spend ÷ conversions, where 'conversion' is whatever event you've defined: purchase, qualified lead, signup, install. The definition is the whole game — a $30 CPA on raw leads and a $30 CPA on sales-qualified leads are different businesses. CPA is also the target metric for cost-based automated bidding (Target CPA), which means the platform chases whatever event you told it to count.

    Why it matters

CPA is intuitive and comparable, which makes it the default budget language — and dangerous when the conversion event is cheap but weakly tied to revenue. Accounts optimized to shallow CPAs fill with volume that never becomes customers. Anchoring CPA to a down-funnel event, or pairing it with LTV, keeps it honest.

    In agentic execution

Adlyse's agents execute toward the CPA targets the team approves, and handle the target-and-goal maintenance — adjusting as economics, seasonality, and funnel definitions change — that manual operations tend to defer.
